Droit public Pratique des droits fondamentaux
International Humanitarian Law will be studied through the instruments used to protect human dignity and the respect for basic human rights in situation of international or internal armed conflicts. This seminar will focus through chosen topics on historical aspects, definitions and the scope of humanitarian law (sources and instruments) as well as practical and concrete cases involving humanitarian assistance.
The outline of this course is based on chosen topics related to challenges faced by IHL two decades after the identification of major challenges in this field of law. It will relates to three topics:
1) Current Challenges in IHL
2) Terrorism in Armed Conflicts: is IHL relevant to fight against terror?
3) Justice in Post-conflict situations
Or
4) War in Ukraine: are we back to the 20th Century?
